Ethical considerations

Regulations and ethics remain vital in maintaining the validity and morality of clinical trials. These are imperative to ensure research is conducted in a way that protects participants while simultaneously helping to advance scientific research. 

  • Voluntariness

    Participation in this clinical trial is voluntary. If you decide to participate, you can stop at any time without giving a reason. If you do not wish to participate or withdraw your consent during the clinical trial, this will not affect any subsequent treatment you may receive.

  • Reimbursement

    Please note that participants will not be reimbursed for their participation in the clinical trial. However, you may be reimbursed for e.g., extraordinary travel costs.

  • Data protection information

    During the clinical trial, medical and personal information about you will be collected and recorded for the study objective described above.

    Your personal data:

    • will be treated confidentially.

    • will be recorded in pseudonymized form (i.e., your name will be replaced by an identification number) on a documentation sheet, stored electronically, and evaluated.

  • Regulatory approval

    This study has been approved by BfArM and has been given a positive assessment by the Ethics Committees.

Disclaimer

CBD is a compound that is being investigated in clinical trials. That means that its efficacy and safety in the treatment of schizophrenia has yet to be proven. The current data do not allow us to draw a sufficiently firm conclusion.

 

The use of CBD outside of clinical trials is therefore not offered at the participating clinics and is currently not recommended! 

We completely understand that many people with schizophrenia and their loved ones are looking for new medications with less severe side effects for the treatment of schizophrenia and do not want to wait that long. However, the process of approving and registering new medicines must comply with international regulations. This will allow competent authorities to protect people with schizophrenia from ineffective or even dangerous drugs, especially in the case of maintenance treatment.
